The Tucson Jazz Festival attracts jazz fans from the East Coast, Midwest, Northwest and elsewhere with hot and cool jazz and toasty temperatures during January, historically a slow time for business and tourism in the Old Pueblo. The festival boosts spending by locals in our thriving downtown with its trendy restaurants and historic performance venues. Post-festival surveys show that 86% of the concertgoers have dinner or go shopping downtown before or after the shows. Located primarily downtown at the historic Fox Tucson and Rialto theatres, the HSL Properties Tucson Jazz Festival will take place from Thursday, Jan. 11 to Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018. The Festival hosts a free event on Jan. 15th in downtown Tucson with two outdoor stages and at least a half-dozen indoor venues in restaurants, clubs and theatres. In addition to the official festival concerts, local bands play at downtown clubs and across the city on weeknights and are promoted as part of the festival. Jazz street performers work the streetcar stops and elsewhere. TJF also hosts a statewide high school jazz band invitational. The HSL Properties Tucson Jazz Festival brings thousands of people downtown, attracts new winter visitors, and reinforces Tucson as a world-class music destination.
